‘Mission Walk’ from Sibsagar to Molungkimong from Feb 10 to 12

The Molungkimong Baptist Church is organising a ‘Mission Walk’ from Sibsagar to Molungkimong under the theme ‘Revisiting a shared history’ from February 10 to 12.  

The Mission Walk is undertaken to revisit the coming of Christianity to Nagaland and in honoring the great sacrificial works done by the mission trio— “Supongmeren Tzüdir, who initiated the path of Christianity; Godhula Brown, the first evangelist to the Nagas and pioneer Missionary Rev. Dr. E. W. Clark, who planted the first Church in Naga Soil at Molungkimong on December 22, 1872.”  

This mission walk is also organized in preparation of the 150 Sesqui Centennial in the year 2022.  

“This mission walk will be a good opportunity to reflect and also partake in the history of the coming of Christianity to our land. Together we will share, have fellowship and be blessed through this mission walk even as we revisit the advent of Christianity to Nagaland and carry on the legacy of this shared history,” shared R. Ali, Pastor, Molungkimong Baptist Church.  

The programme will begin at Tzürang Valley from 5:30 pm where JKM and Rev Z Thsantiu, executive secretary, YBCA will share on revisiting history while Toshi Sanglir, youth secretary, ABAM will deliver Godhula’s song message.  

On February 11, the morning devotion at Tzürang will be conducted for which the incharge is Y Nuklu Phom, executive secretary, PBCA. Short programmes will be held at Angotsükong Smoke Signal Hillock and Dr. Clark Prayer Spot. In the evening service the message will be delivered by Rev. Ponen, pastor MTBA.  

On February 12, during the devotional service, Rev TW Yamyat, finance & property secretary, NBCC will deliver the message with exhortation by Richard Yimto, IPS, DIG and experience sharing from the delegates. Later, in the evening service, Rev Khevihe Yeptho, Associate Director NMM will be the speaker and Toshi Longkumer, president BYFT will speak on clean election.  

The organisers have informed that there is no registration fee and food and lodging will be provided by the organising church. All participants will receive a t-shirt and cap along with mementos and certificate.  

Delegates will assemble at Nagaland Gate, Amguri on February 10 at 11:30 am and head to Sibsagar at 12:00 noon. Bus will be provided for this journey. A short prayer programme will be held at Sibsagar Baptist Church. After the service the team will head back to Buckingham Bungalow. From there the team will travel to Tzürang. February 10th night will be spent by the banks of Tzürang River. Delegates are requested to carry light bedding. The team will start from Tzürang on February 11 at 10:00 am and is expected to reach Molungkimong around 2:00 Pm.  

The uphill walk is about 8 kms.
