DIMAPUR, AUGUST 5 (DIPR): The commissioning and handing over of Khova M.I. Project was held on July 28 at Shoxuvi, Dimapur with the state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Rio said that the project will benefit the farmers and the villagers and urged upon them to utilize the resources judicially. He also said that similar other projects will be carried out soon like the Dzüdza in Kohima and Tsürang in Mokokchung district. Rio also exhorted the people to stop being a consumer society and work towards becoming a producer society.
Minister for Industries & Commerce, Khekiho Zhimomi in his speech said that the project was a long felt necessity of the people of the area, which have become a reality due to the initiative of the DAN Government. Terming the Government as a result oriented Government, the Minister said that a number of projects have been taken up by the Government with vision and dedication for the benefit of the society.
Parliamentary Secretary, Irrigation & Flood Control, M.C. Konyak said that DAN Government is People’s Government and a number of new Departments have been established for the benefit of the people. He mentioned the inauguration of the Sainik School at Punglwa as another milestone of the DAN Government’s achievement. He further urged upon the public to cooperate with the Government for all round development of the state.
Short speeches were also delivered by Chairmen of Chümukedima Village Council, Shoxuvi Village Council, and Hetoi Village Council. Technical report was given by Chief Engineer, I&FC, Mezakrol.
The programme was chaired by Secretary I&FC, B. Thawang Konyak, IAS. Khova M.I. Project will benefit the people of Chümukedima, Shoxuvi, Tenyiphe I & II, Vidima and Shitovi and the channel will be further extended to Khriezephe, Sovima, Singrijan and Razaphe. The work commenced in February 2004 which was executed by Executive Engineer, Dimapur Division I&FC at a cost of Rs. 2,91,12,000/-.
