Nagaland Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Kuzholuzo Nienu, has underscored the need for different Naga tribes to rise above tribalism and to learn to live together as one big Naga family.

“Let us expand our horizon...Nagas are all one”, the Minister said in his address at the inaugural session of the general conference of Angami Youth Organization (AYO) held at Chumkedima public ground on Saturday.

On the theme of the conference “Spirit of fraternity and common goal”, Kuzholuzo (Azo) said that the theme should not be confined to Angami or Tenyimi brothers alone but should be extended to all Naga tribes. He said the sense of fraternity or brotherhood should run in all Naga veins and that the common goal is to live in peace and harmony as one big family, to protect each other’s interest and to support one another when in need and further to encourage one another towards a progressive life.

After all, all Naga tribes share the same roots and history, he said. Azo said the Tenyimis, a conglomeration of kindred Naga tribes, look upon the Angamis as an “elder brother” as Angamis were pioneers in spreading education and Christianity in Tenyimi areas including in Chakhesang and Zeliang areas.

He urged the Angamis to have a more accommodative heart and positive approach.

Earlier, Azo also unveiled a monolith to commemorate AYO general conference. AYO President Khrielievi Chushi in his presidential address urged for oneness among the Angamis. He also called upon the youths to stand firm against all odds and to continue to fight against social elements, who are disturbing peaceful coexistence in Naga society.

Angami Public Organization President Keneingunyu Sekhose in his address called upon the Angami youths to foster better understanding and cooperation for greater wellbeing and prosperity of the Angami tribe and Nagas as a whole.

The conference started with invocation offered by Rev. Lhouzoviu Shuya, Razouvotuo Chatsu delivered welcome address and Theyiekielie Tachu proposed vote of thanks. Former APO President Mhiesizokho Zinyu was the main speaker in the afternoon session.

Frontal Angami organizations, delegates from all four Angami ranges including Southern, Northern, Western and Chakhro and invitees from other Tenyimi tribes including Chakhesang, Zeliang, Rengma and Pochury attended the conference.

Among others, Nagaland Assembly Speaker, Kiyanilie Peseyie and Advisor, IT & Communications, Vikho-o Yhoshu, MLA also graced the conference.
