Risethsi Village, situated 35 KMs away from Kiphire Town under Amahar EAC Head Quarter has an enormous story behind establishing the Village on the mountain top. The people of Risethsi Village live in a pitiable condition taking all the trouble of running down to the small streams and ponds to fetch water for their survival.
While on an unexpected visit to this Village in the month of March, this Correspondent interacted with some elders who narrated the legend of establishing Risethsi Village on the mountain top. The Village was established during the head hunting days when the forefathers took shelter in the mountain top in order to protect themselves from the enemy’s attack. “As part of preserving the aged-old traditions and culture, we are still living in the same area though few of them have settled down for the convenient of their daily live affairs,” narrated as elder of the Risethsi Village.

It is observed that people of the Village still practice a very traditional living. Houses are built without digging the supporting post hole; however, strong stone are made attached with the wood beam. Sanitary and toiletries are not maintained well. The hygienic system of living is low and is in need of redress with better facilities. Children in the Village still ride the local made ‘thela’ during their leisure time. Despite, road connectivity available for small vehicle to ply, there is no regular transporting system, and hence people of the village have to walk till Amahar to catch up the vehicle. The Village at present had approximately 90 households with almost 900 populations.
