A stretch of road subsidence on National Highway-29 between Kohima-Dimapur along KMC old dumping site has affected vehicular movement since July 3 midnight.
The disruption of the highway has compelled traffic police to enforce road diversion through Jotsoma by-pass road.
Several Manipur-bound trucks loaded with essential commodities were stranded on the Highway as a result. This Highway is also the lifeline of neighbouring State Manipur.
Traffic Police informed that around 60 trucks including 3 passenger buses were stranded along the affected highway since the last midnight.
Er. Vikishe Yepthomi, Executive Engineer, PWD (NH Kohima Division) told media persons that sufficient workforce and machinery have been deployed to restore the road.
He said the National Highway Kohima Division is trying its best to restore the road. The road was yet to open at the time of filling this report.
