Roadside Marketing Shed opens at Beisumpuikam village

Peren, August 30 (MExN): Project Director of DRDA Peren, Keyirangding Hegui (NCS) inaugurated the Roadside Marketing Shed constructed with support from North East Rural Livelihood Project at Kamdi Bazaar, Beisumpuikam village on August 28.  

Hegui in his speech noted that Peren district has the most fertile land in Nagaland and has potential to generate household income through organic cultivation practices. He discouraged the use of any chemical, fertilizer, and insecticide, a press release said.  

It was further informed that DRDA under the department programs has a plan to develop village enterprise by setting up value addition of agriculture produces. The Project Director assured to set up three units at Beisumpuikam village – soya bean and mustard oil extraction unit, maize/chilli grinding unit, and Naga Chilly & other spices drying unit (solar drier) – which will benefit the whole cluster villages in the area.  

Meanwhile, NERLP District Project Manager, Ruuvilie Kotsu said the inauguration of the Roadside Market Shed is an example of community ownership. Out of five Roadside Market Sheds under NERLP project, Beisumpuikam Federation is the first to complete the shed. He stressed that the completion of activity is a milestone, but reaping the benefit from the activity, maintenance, and management of the asset is crucial.
