RPF cracks down on selling illegal ticket, arrests 4 touts

Maligaon, March 15 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has apprehended four touts for illegal sale of railway tickets. During March 9 to 14, RPF of NF Railway recovered 24 railway tickets worth above Rs 78,000 from multiple locations. 
On March 13, CIB team of RPF/Rangiya conducted a raid and search operation at ‘UM Printers’ located at Missamari, Assam. During the raid, the team recovered six E-tickets worth around Rs 10,085 and apprehended one tout in this connection. A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at Rangapara North post.

In another drive on March 12, the CIB team of RPF/Katihar along with RPF team of Maligaon & Barsoi apprehended one tout and recovered two railway tickets worth around Rs 10,655. A case was registered at RPF post/Barsoi under section 143 of the Railways Act.
On March 10 and 11, similar checks and drives were conducted at multiple locations and apprehended two more touts and recovered 16 railway tickets worth approx Rs 57890. In this regard, a case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act at respective posts for all the above incidents.

In an incident, on March 9, a team of RPF/Goalpara apprehended one person from Goalpara Town for pelting stone at Train No. 05640 (Kolkata-Silchar Special). A case was registered at RPF/Goalpara post under section 154 of the Railways Act.
“Unauthorized supply and procurement of railway tickets as well as activities that leads to damage of railway properties are considered as punishable offence under section 143 & 154 respectively of the Railways Act that can lead to fines and imprisonment,” stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
