Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) has demanded explanation from the Deputy Chief Minister “as to how almost 50 years old trees – as per the pictures circulated in social media, possibly worth Crores of rupees in the open market, could be felled without any procedures being followed?”
The RPP in a press release stated that the felling of teak trees inside the Chümoükedima police complex has come as a rude shock. RPP expressed shock that 40-50 trees could be chopped down like garden plants in a high security area “just like that.”
'As per the statement given by the state DGP, it is apparent that no procedures were followed, the RPP alleged while adding that in any other state in India, there would have been swift retribution but it’s all too apparent that the UDA coalition is waiting for the issue to die down,' RPP said.
Unless heads role and accountability is fixed, it can be safely deduced that both the Chief Minister and Dy CM Y benefitted from the felling of trees at Police Complex Chümoükedima, RPP alleged.
