Rs 15 cr for DUDA during 2006-07

Kohima, Mar 7 (MExN): The state government has earmarked Rs. 15 crore for the department for Development of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) for the tenure 2006-07. Chief Secretary Lalhuma said this during the inaugural function of DUDA’s Guest House situated near G. Rio School, this morning. He also stated that special allocation amounting to Rs. 6. 25 crore has been kept aside for development of backward areas. Rs. 22.25 crore has been set aside under the RSVY scheme for Mon district while Rs. 4.16 crore will be provided under Border Area Development Programme, he said.

Separate allocation of Rs. 2 crore each for Longleng, Kiphire and Peren district has also been considered for infrastructure development during 2006. Further, Rs. 65 crore has been sanctioned by DONER in this financial year for improvement of roads in the districts of Mon, Tuensang, Kiphire and parts of Wokha district. Lalhuma said the government has been according special attention for the development of backward areas in the state and hoped that the underdeveloped areas would turn into developed areas soon.
