During the year 2021-22, an amount of Rs 4140.40 lakh has been proposed for meeting salaries and other contingencies of District Rural Development Agency (DRDAs) in Nagaland. This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report 2020-21 of Rural Development department tabled in the recently concluded state assembly session.
During 2020-21, an amount of Rs 3764.00 lakh was proposed for meeting the salaries and other contingencies of the DRDAs.
Till date, an amount of Rs 246.13 lakhs only was received as 1st installment of Central share. This short release of fund for the past few years have adversely affected timely payment of DRDAs employees salaries resulted in accumulation of recoverable loans from other programmes, the report stated.
DRDA is the principal organ at the district level to oversee the implementation of different anti-poverty programmes. It is visualized as a specialized and professional agency for managing the anti-poverty programmes and to ensure effective utilization of the funds.
