Sainik School Punglwa celebrates 6th founders’ day

Punglwa, May 11 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa celebrated its 6th Founders’ Day today.  Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland graced the function as the chief guest and exhorted the cadets to derive the maximum benefit from the School to achieve excellence. 

The chief guest was accorded a grand Guard of Honour by the cadets accompanied by a pulsating beat of the School Band upon arrival at the School campus. The Chief Guest in his speech appreciated the hard work of the principal and staff and applauded the value-based cultural programme. He exhorted the cadets to live by the values they had exhibited. The Chief Minister also assured of all help from the state govt and reminded the cadets and staff that the state expects much from the school.  He released a monthly student magazine, VYWOM (Voice of Young Warriors of Morung) and also gave away the most outstanding awards for the academic year 2012-13.  

Award for the Best cadet of the Year was bagged by Cdt. Nibizo Nagi; OLQ (Officer Like Quality) by Cdt. Chiede, and Best in Sports: Sub-Junior by Cdt. Taichader, and Junior by Cdt. Tanthuilubo Zeliang.  Patkai House was adjudged the over-all champion House of the academic year 2012-13 and they lifted the most prestigious trophy of the school- Cock House Shield.

A Cultural Cauldron was presented by the cadets that displayed their talents and skills much to the appreciation and admiration of the gathering. About 500 spectators mostly parents of the cadets witnessed the event.

The School Annual Report was presented by the Principal which chronicled the progress of the School and its infrastructure. The School has the distinction of having all essential infrastructure provided by Govt of Nagaland within a short span of time since its inception in 2007. 

The function was attended by TR Zeliang, Minister for Planning and Coord, Evaluation, Geology and Mining; Kuzholuzo Nienu, Minister for Roads & Bridges, Dr. Nicky Kire, Parliamentary Secretary; Besesayo Kezo, IPS  DGP Nagaland; Maj. General BS Das, SM, IGAR(N); and  a host of other legislators, army officers and govt officials.
