Medziphema, December 14 (MExN): The Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC&FW, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GOI, Medziphema conducted five-day gardener training for the staff of Sainik School, Punglwa, Peren District. 

A press release from CIH stated that the training was conducted at the institute from December 7 to 11 with the objective to provide basic technical guidance on various technologies related to gardening. 

Technical officers of the institute provided training through slide presentations, practical demonstrations and field visits.

The training was conducted on topics including gardening and landscaping, media and bed preparation, potting methods, maintenance of seasonal flowers and ornamental plants, nursery management and basic propagation techniques. Practical demonstration was conducted on propagation methods such as grafting and budding, and steps in preparation and production of compost units and vermicompost. 

The training sessions were followed by interaction session between the technical expert and the participants. Dr NK Palte, Additional Commissioner, DAC&FW & Director in charge CIH also interacted with the participants virtually during the programme. A total of nine participants attended the training.
