Sao Chang College holds anti-ragging, prevention of sexual harassment seminar

Participants of the one-day seminar on ‘Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment-Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal’ was organised at Sao Chang College, Tuensang on November 9.

Tuensang, November 10 (MExN): A one-day seminar on the topic, ‘Anti-Ragging and Sexual harassment-Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal’ was organised at Sao Chang College, Tuensang on November 9. 

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Anti-Ragging and Internal Committee of the college in collaboration with Tuensang District Legal Service Authority (TDLSA) organised the seminar.

Druing the event Soteth Anar, Advocate TDLSA highlighted the legal provisions under Indian Penal Code (IPC) against ragging and bullying, while his colleague Advocate Antimangyang Chang, spoke on Sexual Harassment (Prevention, Prohibition And Redressal) Act 2013 which is a legislative act in India that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment.

The other resource person, Kumdilong Kessen, Judicial Magistrate First Class Tuensang, dwelt on powers to commute the sentences under section 432/433/433A CrPC Judicial and emphasised on reformative justice delivery system being the main purpose for the convict.

The programme was chaired by Akyuba Sangtam, Assistant Professor, Department of English, while. Longtichang Tzudir, Principal-in-charge welcomed the gathering. It concluded with vote of thanks Dr Santosh Kumar Singh, Coordinator, IQAC.

A total of 181 Students and 18 teaching faculty along with the resource persons attended the seminar,  informed a press release from the college.
