Sao Chang Government College celebrates Fresher’s Day

Tuensang, July 29 (MExN): Sao Chang Government College, Tuensang celebrated 44th Fresher’s Day on July 28 at the college auditorium with Impung, Assistant Commandant, 3rd NAP Tuensang as the guest speaker.  

Impung shared his past experience studying at Sao Chang Government College. The college, he said, has shaped him and what he is today is because of the quality education he received from the college, for which, he expressed gratitude.  

A press release from the college principal informed that Impung encouraged the students to be regular in classes and work hard so they can become successful individuals. He also advised them not to develop any inferiority complex for being students of the college, which is located in remotest part of the state, “because in this Information and Technological age, the whole world is well-connected and well-informed about everything.” He asked the students to use the technological gadgets for the purpose of keeping oneself updated in the field of learning. He further said students should not spend time unnecessarily in unproductive activities at young age. “We should make best use of time in life to set better life in the future,” he added, while encouraging the students to give top priority to their studies and dream for better life in future.  

Chubasangla, the Principal of the college also spoke in the programme and said that once the students enter college life, they become more responsible because it is in the college one prepares his or her future life. “If the students do not prepare well at this stage, the rest of the future will be full of darkness,” she cautioned.  

The aim of higher education, she said, is to impart quality education and also to produce quality life. In the college, the students should be responsive in all the academic activities including the co-curricular activities to equip well to become a useful citizen in the society, she stressed. “At the same time, students should also develop various vocational skills when they are in the college so that after the completion of their academic courses they will be able to earn for their livelihood and live a happy and a quality life.” She welcomed the freshers in the family of the college and encouraged them to be sincere, obedient.  

During the programme, the Academic Excellence Award and Best Student of the Year Award were also given. Betikundang Chang, B.Sc 1st Semester and Somba Lomchu, B.Sc 1st Semester were declared Miss & Mr Freshers 2017 respectively.
