DIMAPUR, DEC 19 (MExN): No, it’s not the Saramati peak that requires a barricade. It’s the Saramati hotel in Dimapur which is to get a face lift after it is fenced early next year. General Manager of the Nagaland Hotels Limited (NHL), M Longkumer told The Morung Express today that the government has already sanctioned the funds towards the construction of a wall which will encase the hotel premises. He said this during the pre-Christmas celebrations of the Saramati staff. The request has been doing the rounds for two years. The obvious reason for such a proposal is security concerns, especially from car thieves.
Attended by family members of the staff as well, the Christmas merriment began as soon as Tiameren, Chairman of the NHL who is also a BJP MLA arrived. Flashing a cowboy hat and carrying with him a protruding pot-belly, the legislator said, “Anybody who does not have Christ in his heart cannot go near the Christmas tree.” He asked the gathering to allow Jesus to reside in their hearts. Tiameren was a first-timer in attending such a kind of celebration along with the Saramati family.
Taku Jamir, Managing Director of the government-run hotels, in a visibly jolly mood went around meeting all and sundry. “Let us face the new year with a smile,” he said. He urged upon the staff to be hospitable as they were in such a kind of a profession which requires them to display their welcoming skills.
After the formalities, Moa, Atsaba and Imsü rendered soulful renditions accompanied by the proverbial hollow guitar. While Moa, befriended by Atsaba on the guitars hit the high notes while singing the carol, ‘O Holy Night,’ Nungsang tilted towards the romantic angle by crooning the song ‘Up where we belong.’ However, he also delivered a message for all in the effort to carry forward the yuletide spirit by delivering Bryan Adam’s ‘A Little Love.’
