The first cultural exhibition of the Sumi, Ao, Rengma and Kyong (SARK) today concluded with the four tribes taking a resolution to ‘work cohesively for the entire Naga people’.  The cultural exhibition which kick-started last evening culminated with the house taking three point resolution and a new set of office bearers taking over the SARK.

“The SARK resolved to work cohesively for the unity of the entire Naga people,” the SARK declared in its resolution while stating that the SARK (which is an acronym derived from the first letter of the four tribes – Sumi, Ao, Rengma and Kyong) would explore the possibilities of renaming it ‘SARK Students’ Coordination’.

Besides, the ‘SARK Students’ Coordination’ also extended its appreciation to Lumami village and SKK for successfully hosting the 1st Cultural Exchange Programme under the theme ‘fostering unity through culture’.

The new SARK team will be headed by the President of Ao Students Conference (AKM) as Convener and of Kyong Students’ Union as Co-convener. The Rengma Student Union President would be the Secretary while the Sumi Students’ Union President would take the task of Joint Secretary.

Meanwhile, in the first session on October 31, the Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister & Finance Commissioner, Toshi Aier, was special guest. Cultural troupes from the four tribes presented traditional dances. The next SARK cultural meet will be hosted by the Ao Students’ Conference in 2014.
