DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) has served a 7-day deadline to teachers who are keeping proxy teachers in government schools under its jurisdiction to report to duty to their respective schools.
A press release issued by SASU president, K. Chumseli Anar and general secretary, Holise Sangtam said the practice of proxy teachers have become so common under its jurisdiction that students does not receive quality education anymore. The union also reminded that it had served cautionary notice and representations to the proxy teachers as well as to the concerned schools on the issue, which however has fallen on deaf ears.
SASU also appealed to the Advisor to the School Education, K Tokugha Sukhalu to address the matter while asserting that the culture of proxy teachers was due to the failure of the state government in installing biometric attendance to check irregularities of the teacher.
