Kohima, June 26 (NEPS): Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare and Child & Women Development Chotisuh Sazo has criticized “bogus societies and their agents” in Nagaland for duping Naga citizens particularly students and educated youths in the State with various false promises of providing central schemes and jobs.
The MLA told NEPS News Service here on Tuesday that the so-called “Society for Child and Women Empowerment” which was currently in news for duping several Nagas under a scheme called “The Rising East.” The bogus society has no connection with the Social Welfare department or with the Child & Women Development department, he said in clarification.
Sazo said the Social Welfare, Child and Women Development departments were dealing with all the schemes and programs from the ministry of Child and Women Development.
The State government is also implementing programs under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme with registered societies and funded by the Ministries of Child and Women Development, he said. Sazo said he was unaware of the so-called “Society for Child and Women Empowerment” undertaking any scheme under any of the government ministries or departments.
Warning citizens to be aware of bogus societies and agents, the Parliamentary Secretary also discouraged parents against ‘easily handing over their children’ to NGOs or agents who promise to provide educations and jobs to their children in major cities of India. He reminded the parents that in most of the cases, their children would land up in brothels, factories or restaurants.
Sazo also asked the public that any organization taking their children and women outside the State for educational purposes must first be verified and approved from the department to ‘save their children from landing in those unwanted situations.’
