SBI Gram Seva, AIDA conduct awareness programme for farmers

Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): The SBI- Gram Seva programme implemented by ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), Don Bosco conducted an awareness programme on Integrated Nutrient Management and Bio-control of Pest and Diseases in four villages under Dimapur on March 15 and16.

A total of 82 (49 male and 33 female) farmers from four villages - Khriezephe, Diezephe, Urra and Bade, participated in the programme.

The resource persons for the programme were Dr Lowrence Kithan, Scientist, All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Pigeon Pea, SASRD-NU, Medziphema Campus, Nagaland and Dr. Moasunep, Agriculture Inspector, Department of Agriculture, Bio-control Laboratory, IETC, Medziphema, Nagaland.

During their presentations, Dr Kithan emphasized on the importance of soil health, green manure and demonstrated on the process of vermicomposting while Dr Moasunep discussed different pest and diseases of agricultural crops and held demonstration on the different procedures for application and the use of trichogramma and trichoderma, a press release informed.

The resource persons were accompanied by Maongkar T Changkiri, Livelihood Officer, SBI Gram Seva, AIDA and Vethojo Lohe, Education Incharge, SBI Gram Seva, AIDA, it said.

The programme concluded with an interactive session where the farmers cleared their doubts and queries on farming practice, it added.
