SBI Sanjeevani takes health care to rural areas

Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): The SBI Sanjeevani - Mobile Medical Van has conducted 34 medical camps for 45 villages in Dimapur district since its inception in July 2021 to November 17.

Informing this in a press release on Friday, AIDA stated that the initiative was implemented as part of the SBI Gram Seva Programme implemented by ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), and flagged off for the rural areas of Dimapur by Dr I Moatemjen, the Chief Medical officer of Dimapur on July 1 this year.

The objective under SBI Sanjeevani Health camp is to provide door-step health services to rural communities and early detection of serious illnesses. It was introduced in convergence with District Health Authorities/Health Department and Health Centres to provide staff and support for the Mobile Medical Van during the course of project implementation and the first SBI Sanjeevani Health camp was started on July 12, 2021 at Khriezephe village. The same continues in other adopted villages of Gram Seva programme as well as non-adopted rural villages of Dimapur and neighbouring Assam, the release stated.

Till November 17, a total of 34 medical camps for 45 villages have been covered with over 950 patients have been treated. They were provided with free medical checkups and free medicines, it added.

The Mobile Medical Van is accompanied by a doctor, a nurse, Staff from AIDA Gram Seva official and driver. Those who have been rendering the service include Dr Rev Sr Rosmy and Rev Sr Maris (BSc Nurse) from St Joseph Pain and Palliative Care Center Dimapur, Dr Rosaline Yekhali Chishi, Dr Rev Sr Rosemary UFS and Dr Kevi, MO, Dr Ravi Singh from CIHSR, Dimapur, Dr Micheal Tetseo, MO, CHC, Jalukie, together with Sr Celine, Registered Nurse, according to the press release. 

The release stated that most of the patients in the villages were not going to the hospitals mainly due to financial burdens. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic had also forced people to stay at home, and the people could not reach out to hospitals due to lack of transportation facilities it said. In such a situation, the arrival of SBI Sanjeevani (Mobile Medical Van) at their door step was not just a blessing but also a boost for their health. It said that the communities were grateful to AIDA and SBI Foundation for bringing health services to rural areas and added that the project will be visiting more rural villages for medical camps in days to come.   

Meanwhile, AIDA expresses gratitude to its other supporters like Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research, Dimapur, St Joseph Pain and Palliative Care Center Dimapur, Interns from St Joseph University (MA in Rural Development), Interns from North East Institute of Social Sciences & Research (MSW Specialized in Community Developmental Studies) Dimapur, village council members, likeminded individuals for their cooperation, and the CMO and Dy CMO for their encouragement and support.
