SBI to finance Jalukie Co-Operative Societies

Jalukie, NOV 8 (mexn): Co-operative Societies at Jalukie gained the accolade of its financer SBI after they produced surplus passion fruit and maize this year. According to Convener of the Union of Co-operative Societies (UCOS) the farmers at Jalukie could even export their product to the other part of the State, which he claimed, was the first of its kind in Nagaland.

But the Convener said that lack of Agri-link road has become the stumbling block to the farmers in producing the product for commercial purpose. Impressed with the success of the Co-operative Society, S.N. Phukan regional General Manager, SBI said that they are ready to give crores of Rupees without any limitation if they remain loyal but warned the farmers against default in repayment of loan. The leading Bank also assured that they would assist the farmers in introduction of machinery for Cottage and Small Scale Industries so that the farmers can produce the product in bulk and improve their economy.

It was learnt that the Officials from SBI, ICAR came to UCOS Model Farm at Jalukie for practical field inspection, spot verification and practical work culture. The SBI donated one computer set each to UCOS and Heningkunglwa Govt. High School, and further assured the student of class VI to Class X for financial incentive to those who pass on merit in the current academic year.

Meanwhile, the UCOS has expressed gratitude to the SBI Officials, ICAR Scientist and other Officials for their assistance towards the farmers.
