DIMAPUR, JULY 17 (MExN): Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur celebrated its annual Graduation Day cum Alumni Meet 2024 on July 17.

Special guest, Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer, Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority and an alumnus of the college acknowledged the new graduates, faculty, and all others in attendance, a press release issued by SCHE stated. 

Ruangmei, reflecting on his days at the institution, emphasized the importance of using knowledge and past experiences to navigate life's challenges, urging students to embrace technology and lifelong learning to compete globally. He said that every challenge in life, will have a solution, but if it does not have a solution, it is not be a challenge at all. To succeed in life, one needs to accept challenges and bring out creative solutions, Ruangmei added. 

Highlighting the achievements of the outgoing students, the SCHE Principal, Fr Dr Paul Punü awarded Sr Ankita Lakra, a philosophy department topper, with a cash prize for her outstanding academic performance and to Sr Alphina Peidah Ng, from political science department for the best library user award. Other awards included recognitions for highest attendance, and departmental rank holders.

The event featured a performance by fifth-semester students, who delighted the audience with a rendition of the song “Million Dreams." Graduates were presented with medals and mark sheets by the heads of departments. 

The UG topper in Philosophy Sr Ankita Lakra delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the faculty for their guidance and to her classmates for their support. She shared personal anecdotes from her time at the college, inspiring her peers to continue striving for excellence.

Closing remarks was delivered by Yanvungthung Kikon, HoD, political science department. He expressed gratitude to the chief guest, college authorities, faculty, students, and volunteers for making the event a success. Earlier, the ceremony began with an invocation by Rector, Fr (Dr) Elow Samuel.
