School Education lifts overall title at Zunheboto inter-departmental tournament

The 13th edition of the Inter-Departmental Tournament of Zunheboto District concluded on Saturday with a closing ceremony at the Indoor Badminton Stadium, Zunheboto.

Organised by the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Zunheboto, the three-day tournament was held from September 17 to 19 and brought together employees from various government departments for sporting competition, teamwork and camaraderie.

School Education emerged as the Overall Champion, while the District Executive Force (DEF), Zunheboto, finished as runners-up. The Best Discipline Award was presented to Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA).

Guest of Honour Dharam Raj, IAS, Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB, Zunheboto, congratulated the participating departments for their enthusiasm, discipline and sporting spirit throughout the tournament.

 

He appreciated the DPDB for providing a platform for government employees to come together beyond their official responsibilities and build stronger bonds through sports.

Raj said sporting events promote physical fitness, teamwork, discipline and mutual respect, adding that the spirit of sportsmanship should extend beyond the playing field and into the workplace.

He congratulated the winners and encouraged participants to continue taking part in sporting activities with the same enthusiasm in future editions.

The closing programme was compered by Imtinungla Longkumer, EAC, Satakha, and featured the final match, prize distribution and presentation of awards to winning teams and individual participants.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ichirang Zeliang, Executive Engineer, PHED, Zunheboto, followed by the benediction by Hoketo, Pastor, Police Reserve, Zunheboto.

Penalty Shoot-out: Women's Winner — ZGC; Women's Runners-up — DEO; Men's Winner — SDEO; Men's Runners-up — Mechanical.

Badminton: Women's Doubles Winner — School Education; Women's Doubles Runners-up — KPA; Men's Doubles Winner — PWD (R&B); Men's Doubles Runners-up — Education Department; Men's Singles Winner — Education Department; Men's Singles Runners-up — Nagaland University (NU), Lumami.

The three-day tournament saw active participation from various government departments and showcased sporting talent, teamwork and fellowship among government employees across Zunheboto district.
