Entrepreneurs Associates launches SOLVE prog at Oriental College
Kohima, September 17 (MExN): Entrepreneurs Associates (EA) in partnership with the Oriental College, Kohima launched ‘School of Life Values and Entrepreneurship’ – SOLVE program at the college on September 17.
The initiative hopes to present new opportunities and insights to students who are enrolling for the program, to be divided into sessions of 7 to 8 classes, walking them through activities that hope to enrich their living skills and functions.
Introducing the program at the college, Neichute Doulo, CEO Coordinator, Entrepreneurs Associates encouraged the students to develop a creative perspective towards life and be open to taking up different career paths unlike the popular choices. Delving on the need for Nagas to look beyond government jobs, the national award winning ‘Social Entrepreneur’ encouraged the children to take up entrepreneurship and chart new paths for themselves.
Addressing the students, Michelle Hesso, EA’s Strategic Planner encouraged the students to think “outside the box” and be open to new ideas. Urging them to look beyond government jobs, she shared about the immense opportunities in the corporate and private sector that is to be explored and taken advantage of.
Ngaore Rume, an alumni of the college and the Chief Financial Officer, EA; spoke about the need to start small and grab any opportunity that comes their way. Advising them to be “willing to learn, get their hands dirty with work and move forward to achieve success,” he stressed on the need for young people to be open to any break that presents itself to them and not keep waiting for “the right time”.
Gopal Chetri, Vice Principal of OCK, while also welcoming the guests to the college highlighted that the college had for long wanted to start something of this sort which has now come to live with SOLVE. Interestingly with this same objective and concern the Oriental College has also been organising Skill festivals and has been working on developing a curriculum to help students learn something beyond their syllabus, being acutely aware that “formal education is not enough to equip students for life”. Gopal hoped that the program would prove to be a transformative experience for the students and enable them to have a winning edge in life.
The program which was held at the College Auditorium was chaired by Apenuo Shaiza and the invocation was pronounced by Liva Rhi. A special number was presented by Kikruneinuo Kechu while Ruokuovituo, HOD Commerce department gave the welcome address.
In a bid to help students and young people achieve success and effectively contribute towards society, EA is currently reaching out to students through this program. SOLVE is currently running at Chandmari Higher Secondary School where 40 students are part of the program to enhance their lives. Meanwhile Oriental College is the first College to introduce this unique life based training exercise to their students in the state.
“EA endeavours to reach out and impact more students in other educational institutes through this initiative,” it stated in a press release.
