Secheku Area Graduates Fellowship 1st executive council installed

Kohima, October 12 (MExN): The 1st executive council of Secheku Area Graduates Fellowship (SAGF) was officially installed (virtual) and blessed by Rev Mese Rhakho, former pastor on October 11 last. SAGF nomination committee member Kekhwezo Kepfo formally declared the first nominated office bearers of SAGF.

Colo Mero, Director of Life Ministries said that it is an exciting initiative to bring together all graduates from all ages to work for the welfare of Secheku area and encouraged the team to truly work effectively and productively in partnership. He also told them to be resourceful and people oriented.

The team will play a pivotal role in leadership, inspire and empower the next generation leaders, engage in development and planning and influence to help build and unite communities in an inclusive and holistic way to ensure a healthy, prosperous and sustainable community in our area and beyond, he said. He also stressed on the significance of education for employment and the need to help eradicate so called educated unemployables through various initiatives and guide “because there are many opportunities for us to venture.” It is an educated forum and let us be committed to make a positive difference in our area and beyond, he said. 

Mero said that “the elders have paved the way for us, invested in us and it is time for us, to have a heart to give back to our society through services, sharing resources and giving generously.” Think what you can do for your area and village and do it. Let us stay above petty differences, isms and dirty politics. Show unity and integrity in our activities. Let us love and let live, he said.

Dr Zavise Rume stated that the primary objective of the fellowship is to provide a common platform for healthy interactions and connect graduates, share resources and to promote academic well-being, career development, preserve and promote cultures, traditions, natural resources, organize skill based training and participate in the process of all round development in the area. He stated that SAGF was formed virtually in August 2020 which was approved by over 250 graduates from Secheku area.

A nomination committee was constituted on August 29, 2020 to nominate the first office bearers of the fellowship under the convenorship of Medo Chirhah and was subsequently approved virtually by the house on September 20, 2020.

SAGF executive council includes: President- Dr Zavise Rume, vice presidents- Dode Nakro, Khronyilo Lohe and Hiweku Mebou, general secretary-Dingupe Lasuh, joint secretary- Pukha Wezah, treasurer- Dr Yelhi Vero, chaplain- Rakodu Nukhu,  social & cultural secretary- Dapulu Leah, media & press secretary-Khrolhiweu Tsuhah, women affairs secretary-Tusonulu Lohe and Kozou Lasuh; Advisory board: Convenor- Colo Mero, Members- Kekhwezo Tara, Boni Zholia, Kruto Tetseo and Vekhrope Lasuh.
