Nagaland Govt assures bank representatives to bring more land reforms to suit prevailing condition

A meeting of Select Committee to examine the application of Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002 (SARFAESI Act, 2002) to Nagaland was held in Kohima on Monday.
The meeting discussed application of the Act in the context of Article 371-A of the Constitution of India.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio is the chairperson of the said Select Committee along with the members consisting of Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang, NLA Speaker Sharingain, Ministers Neiba Kronu and Tonpang Ozukum, Advisor Toshi Wuntung, MLA Imkong L Imchen, Chief Secretary as special invitee and with Law and Justice and Finance Department as well as representative from RBI, Haridas Sarode, DGM Gauhati, and AGM SBI Abinash Hembrom who is also the Convenor of SLBC Bankers, Dimapur.
Sources said all the members had shared their opinion on SARFAESI Act of the Constitution of India with special reference to Nagaland and also on Nagaland Land and Revenue Regulation Act 1978 and 2002 and deliberated on how to finance entrepreneurs and the business people.
The meeting was positive and concluded with a decision to consult each respective funding agency and come back again for more clarity, sources said.
In the meantime, the state government had also assured the bank representatives to bring some more land reforms to suite the prevailing condition of the state.
