Seluophe village under Dimapur-III AC gets official recognition

Seluophe village under Dimapur-III Assembly Constituency today (Oct 25) held a “Village recognition day” at the village ground to commemorate recognition of the village by Nagaland government on February 3, 2012, with Minister for Health & Family Welfare Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as Chief Guest, Advisor for Sericulture & Co-operation Azheto Zhimomi as Guest of Honour and Director General, Home Guards, Prisons & Vigilance Commissioner, Besusayo Kezo, as Special Guest.

The Chief Guest in his address conveyed gratitude to pioneers of Chumukedima village for taking pains in establishing Seluophe village way back in 1992. Azo also reminded that recognition of the village came about due to collective efforts of eight Naga Tenyimia tribes and, especially the benevolence of DAN government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and persuasion of local legislator representing Dimapur-III A/C Azheto Zhimomi.

On media reports on boundary issue between neighbouring Tsithrongse village and Seluophe village, the Minister urged Seluophe village to display magnanimity and goodwill gesture and to settle the boundary issue amicably. Azo said that if Seluophe village is really trying to encroach upon Tsithrongse village land, then the former should give up the idea and thereby avoid further confrontation.

He said Seluophe village with settlement of eight Naga tribes should show the way to Naga unity by inviting other tribes to settle in the village.

Touching on the Naga political issue and ongoing initiative to find a solution acceptable to all section of Nagas before the State Assembly Election slated for March 2013, the Minister however said that in case election were to take place, than the NPF party would come back to power hundred percent. Azo appealed to electorate of the area and Seluophe village not to desert the regional party (NPF) but rather extend support to NPF so that the village can enjoy the fruits of development.

Guest of honour and MLA representing Dimapur-III A/C, Azheto Zhimomi, in his speech welcomed official recognition of Seluophe village and at the same time reminded the villagers that they should be grateful to DAN government for granting recognition to the nascent village. Azheto also cautioned on “ism” and said that the newly recognized village should try to co-exist in harmony with neighbouring villages. 

The local legislator also said that Seluophe village must select or elect honest and sincere people to run the affairs of the village for speedier development of the village.  Further, Azheto took the opportunity to request the Heath & Family Welfare Minister for opening a health sub-centre on immediate basis.

DG, Home Guards, Prisons & Vigilance Commissioner, Besusayo Kezo, in his address said Seluophe village inhabited by eight Naga tribes should lead the way in displaying unity and oneness among all Naga tribes. Quoting a passage from the Bible (Mathew 7:12), Kezo urged the villagers to “do unto others as you would have others do unto you.”

President, Tenyimi Union Dimapur, Khalo Kapfo, President Chakhesang Hoho Dimapur, Vekhosayi Nyekha and President Khuva Range Tenyimi Krotho, K Medom also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Seluophe Village Council chairman, Wepfiite Chirhah, delivered welcome address and GB Kegwashe Seb gave a brief history of the village.  Highlights of the celebration included folk tunes and dances presented by Mao women, Angami men and womenfolk and Chakhesang women folk of Seluophe village.
