Pfutsero, September 8 (MExN): The Pfutsero Government College Alumni Association (PGCAA) in collaboration with Career Counseling and Placement Cell Pfutsero Government College organized a seminar on career guidance and skill development at the college auditorium on September 8. The resource persons were Aotula Imchen, IPS, SDPO Pfutsero and Yangerpongla I Pongen, Trainer, NCDC, YouthNet.
In the first session, Aotula IPS, SDPO Pfutsero stressed on the principles of ‘focus, strong decision and humility.’ “To define one’s own vocation, we should posses self awareness and distinguish our passion, interest, skills and most importantly find motivation,” she stated. The speaker requested the students to look at challenges as opportunity, understand the demand of their examinations, get into a good study circle and cultivate good habits. In her final personal note, the speaker encouraged to always put God first and take risk with no fear but rather with consistency.
In the second session, Yangermongla I Pongen, Trainer, NCDC YouthNet deliberated on three principles- soft skills listening, attitude and communication. The speaker enlightened the gathering by making them self examine the words ‘listening and hearing’ and how understanding them makes a lot of differences. She stated that “Attitude is another skill which every individual needs to reflect, it comes in two i.e. positive and negative attitudes. Having a positive attitude with confidence breed success, solution, loyalty and enhances responsibilities”. “While communication skill demands not just the ability to convey but it is also the ability to captivate with immense self presence and draw interest,” she added.
