Seminar on livestock farming practices held at Chuchuyimlang

Mokokchung, October 26 (MExN): Knowing and realising the potential for increasing livestock production through the provision of information on scientific livestock farming practices to farming community on how to improve productivity in poultry and piggery, one-day seminar on recent farming practices in poultry and piggery was conducted on October 19 at Chuchuyimlang village on the theme ‘One World One Health.’  

A press release stated that the programme began with prayer by Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church Pastor, T Lima, followed by welcome address from the Convenor of the programme, Bendangonen Jamir.  

In his keynote address, Jamir emphasised on sustainable development of livestock as backbone for rural economy. He also highlighted on the need to adopt scientific managemental practices by livestock farmers to achieve full potential of its benefits. Concluding his address he stressed on the need for economic independence for spiritual and political freedom.  

Dr. Sentitula, IFS currently the Divisional Forest Officer, Peren, who is also a Ph.D in Animal Genetics and Breeding, discussed in detail on scientific poultry farming and how poultry farming can achieve economic independence and sustainable development for rural farmers.  

Dr. Imtiwati, Assistant Professor, Department of Livestock Production Management, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Peren discussed on recent farming practices in Piggery and he emphasised how Chuchuyimlang village can be hub for commercial export of pork throughout Nagaland taking advantage of its strategic topographic location in the state.
