Senior Citizens’ Association Zhavame held its first get-together at Pame Tsüdu, Zhavame village on May 5.

Zhavame, May 5 (MExN): The Senior Citizens’ Association Zhavame (SCAZ) held its first get-together at Pame Tsüdu, Zhavame village, bringing together hundreds of senior citizens living in different towns in Nagaland on May 5.

Addressing the gathering, former Minister and Advisor Executive, Senior Citizens’ Association Nagaland (SCAN), Deo Nukhu highlighted the benefits that can be availed by senior citizens through various government schemes. He also emphasized that senior citizens deserves the highest respect in the society while citing examples of how the elderly are treated with respect in countries like Japan. He further called upon the senior citizens of Zhavame to maintain good health.

In his greetings, Zhavame Village Council Chairman, Zao Krocha stated happiness on the first-of-its-kind event being organised for the elderly in the village and hoped that they will be blessed with good health all their lives.

Advisor to SCAZ, P Paul Dukru, also exhorted the gathering. Other highlights of the event included opening prayer by Rev Akha Shupao, Pastor, ZBC, welcome speech by S Joseph Shupao, song by Rapri Pohena, Act of blessing by the oldest citizen of Zhavame Sova Rhi and benediction by Sarhünyi Krocha, Catechist, St Xavier Catholic Church, Zhavame. The programme was chaired by Tho-o Shupao, VDB Secretary.
