Health officials administer patients during the senior citizens’ welfare camp held in Chümoukedima on September 8.
Chümoukedima, September 10 (MExN): Shiheli Old Age Home (SOAH), a charitable shelter, organized a Senior Citizens’ Welfare Camp on September 8, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare, Chumoukedima, and Palliative & Geriatric Medicine at Eden Medical Centre (EMC). Clinical partners for the event included Dr. Nepuni Athikho, Senior Consultant in Palliative & Geriatric Medicine at EMC, and the Health Nursing School, Singrijan.
The camp was attended by 60 senior citizens belonging to various faiths and tribes, with the primary objective of providing free medical check-ups and focusing on the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the elderly.
With Toholi Chisho, Chairperson of SOAH, serving as the Camp Director, Kevineinuo Rio, District Programme Officer (ICDS) from the Social Welfare Department in Chumoukedima, graced the programme. Rio shared detailed information regarding various welfare schemes and services available in the district. She also encouraged the younger generation to display kindness, care, and respect toward elderly persons, emphasizing that meaningful community support and eldercare begin at home and with everyone individually.
The clinical partners provided comprehensive health check-ups to all 60 elderly participants during the camp.
