Senior Men’s Inter-District: Chümoukedima, Dimapur continue winning streak

Chümoukedima, March 15 (MExN): Chümoukedima and Dimapur continued their winning streak in the ongoing Senior Men’s Inter-District Tournament 2025 with victories over Mokokchung and Niuland, respectively, on March 15.

In the Group A encounter at Sovima Cricket Ground, Dimapur secured a 27-run victory over Niuland in a low-scoring match. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Dimapur was bowled out in 37.2 overs with just 110 runs on the board. Joshua Ben Ozukum led the scoring with 34 off 74 balls, while Anirudh Yadav contributed 29 off 69 balls. Niuland’s Sunil Sharma claimed 3 wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs.

However, a disciplined bowling performance restricted Niuland to just 83 runs in 23.4 overs. Sundram Gupta dismantled Niuland’s batting lineup with a match-winning spell, taking 5 wickets for 27 runs in 9 overs. Tahmeed provided solid support with 3 wickets for 33 runs in 8 overs. Gupta was named the Player of the Match for his bowling performance.

At Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chümoukedima dominated Mokokchung in their Group B matchup, securing a comprehensive 9-wicket victory. Batting first, Mokokchung was bowled out for just 74 runs in 30.4 overs. Amongti Lkr top-scored with 16 off 32 balls, but Chümoukedima’s bowling attack proved too strong. Imliwati led the charge with 3 wickets for 13 runs in 6.4 overs, while Jonathan Rongsen took 3 wickets for 17 runs in 7 overs.

Chümoukedima chased down the target with ease, reaching 77/1 in just 13.3 overs. Mughavi Sumi played a blistering knock of 43 off 40 balls, while Jonathan Rongsen remained unbeaten on 33 off 41 balls. For his all-round performance, Jonathan Rongsen was named the Player of the Match. When the match resumed after a day break on March 17, Wokha will take on Mon in Group A, while Tseminyu will face Kohima in the Group B encounter.
