Kohima, March 26 (MExN): The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) Nagaland informed that fire incidents were reported in Dimapur, Kohima, Chümoukedima, Jalukie and Peren on March 25.
Dimapur: On receiving Fire call at 4:59 pm on March 25 at State Stadium, Dimapur, the F&ES team from Fire Station Dimapur (West) proceeded to control the fire.
One vehicle was burnt in the inferno and property worth around Rs 6 lakh was lost. Due to timely information and response, property worth Rs 1 lakh could be salvaged, the department reported.
Cause of fire is suspected to be from a wire short circuit in the vehicle, it added.
Chümoukedima: On receiving jungle fire call at 1:40 pm on March 25 at National Institute of Technology Dimapur, the F&ES team from Fire Station Chümoukedima was pressed into action. The team was able to douse the fire within an hour and prevented it from spreading to the surrounding areas. However, cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
Kohima: A jungle fire call was received at 4:04 pm on March 25 at Thizama Road, Near Assembly Secretariat Main Gate.
The F&ES team from Fire Station Kohima (North) proceeded to control the fire and property worth around Rs 10 lakh could be salvaged. The cause of fire could not be ascertained, the department said.
Jalukie: Meanwhile, a jungle fire call was received at 4:05 pm on Thursday at Pellhang, Peren.
Plantations crops were destroyed and property worth Rs 4.5 lakh approximately was lost in the inferno. The F&ES team from Fire Station Jalukie doused the fire and salvaged property worth around Rs7 lakh. The cause of the fire could not be ascertained in this case as well, as per the report.
4 jungle fire reports in Peren
On Thursday, the department reportedly received 4 jungle fire calls in Peren.
The first fire call was received at 1:30 pm from around District Court, New Peren. Further, 3 more jungle fire incidents were attended to in the same evening. One was near DC’s Residence at around 4:50 pm, another near SP’s Residence at 6:00 pm and one near New Peren Village Council Hall at 7:00 pm. The F&ES team from Fire Station Peren proceeded to control the fires and prevented them from spreading to the surrounding areas.
The department reported that cause of the fires could not be ascertained.
