‘SEWA dukaan’ in Kohima opens

Initiative to cater exclusively to home based workers in Nagaland

Kohima, December 15 (MExN): Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) Kohima district officially launched its first outlet SEWA Dukaan at APO Hall, 2nd floor room no. 27. The outlet is one of its first initiative to cater exclusively to home based workers in Nagaland, a press release stated here.

Gracing the programme, Avile Vitso, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Kohima expressed her admiration for the work of SEWA Nagaland has taken up in Nagaland, since its formation. She encouraged to continue striving for bigger and larger goals, where the outlet will expand to other districts across Nagaland in the years to come and shared the need to cater to different customers and focus on catering to the ever changing needs and demand of customers. 

She also emphasized on ‘the need to be polite and treat each customer with respect irrespective even when the visitor does not make a purchase. The need for the management team to understand and know the products sold at the outlet and be able to provide correct information to their customers.’ 

The programme was chaired by Angunuo Miari, General Secretary, SEWA Nagaland. Behind the curtain, the journey of the initiative- the concept and the persons working behind the scene was shared by Asalu Nyekha, Programme Associate, North East Network (NEN). 

An initiative supported by SEWA Bharat and facilitated by NEN, the outlet will cater to the home based workers of Kohima district in the initial stage and later extend its services to other districts. The outlet will provide marketing platform for the home based workers to sell its produce at fair price, at the same time ensuring quality products. 

The outlet will open 9:30 am onwards, Monday-Saturday and run by a Managing Committee.
