SEX education

Kathy Jamir: I say its high time Nagaland should introduce Sex Education as a part of the curriculum at the high school level. What say friends? I believe we already have enough moral deterioration going on in our society. ''Sex education'' may sound vulgar and inappropriate to many but if introduced in educational institutions; it will serve as a rational step towards creating a responsible and healthy personal as well as community life.

Thejazo Gabriel: Introduce in schools at the same time parents should be open to talk about it too. I guess we need to have seminars for parents on how to discuss such issues with their kids many don't know how to!

Typical scenario - Child: mummy, how was I born?

Mother: children don't ask such questions! You'll know when you grow up.

Vikeduo Linyü: Aji kali bacha khan besi kara ase dey. Sex education should start by 8th or 9th standard. It’s a must, with HIV spreading like wildfire we need to educate them. In a recent incident a girl of class 12 was not aware of HIV aids and unprotected sex.

By the way for those of you think sex education it’s not for Naga society or Christians. Hello when you and I were kids weren't you and I searching for porn magazines, the poster outside embassy video hall in Kohima always brings smile. The small video hall in the corner at supermarket or the April shower line video hall, hahaha hiding in the corner and watching! Reading Human digest was an awesome porn lol watching porn from a video camera viewer, turn by turn. Please don’t tell me you were that innocent!

Ath Rhetso: Experts are already working on it, the National AIDS research institute in collaboration with Indian Council of Medical Research and the Department of Health research have come up with a module "Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Education." Targeting the 9th till the 12th standard. As adolescent is a stage where the young minds are bothered and boggled by body changes, gender relationships and scholastic goals-the module delves on issues such as getting along with parents, teachers, friends, handling romantic and gender relationships, setting goals, studies, coping with failure/setbacks that an adolescent may encounter along the road of adulthood besides providing information related to reproductive tract infection, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS. Access to correct scientific information about health and sex education is the vision behind the module. It has already been tested at schools in north and south India. Soon to be tested in North-Eastern part of India. If it gets a good feedback, it will implement as a part of the school curriculum all over India (rural and urban).

Abou Mere: The term sex education was not very welcoming by the Church leaders, parents and some schools. Therefore, here in Nagaland NSACS and Education Dept. has tried to introduce the same as life skill. Some TOT for the schoolteachers had already conducted, but I do not know how much has been implemented in the ground (Schools). It was during Late. Dr Kamuni, Dr. Vizolie and Dr. Joyce Angami time in NSACS. Will be happy if Dr.Vizolie or Dr Joyce can share their view and experiences.

Al Ngullie: We all are aware of the dynamics involved in how education can shape the perspective of a child. Without having to elaborate on the process, sex education is not only essential, it is imperative!

Nagas are Creative Copycats

Aien Changkija: We Nagas are a group of overtly talented & creatively blessed people. Seriously! I mean there isn't a guy who can't fix his computer by himself without having to take it to a service centre. Almost everyone knows how to play a guitar with no formal training whatsoever. Ask a kid to make a sketch of a picture of you & he will do it in a minute. Tell someone to build you a bed and they will do it. But when it comes to business & career - sigh!!
I hate admitting it, all our talent & creativity (add common sense as well for that matter) goes down the drain!
Someone starts a second-hand garment business and we all have to do it too;
Someone starts a game parlour and we all have to open one too;
Someone starts a business of home-made cookies and we all have to do it too;
Someone starts an online shopping site and we just have to give it a try too;
Someone becomes a designer and we all have to learn designing too;
Someone becomes a professional photographer and we all have to buy a DSLR too;
Someone.....Ah!! The list is endless.
Everyone just wants to get rich overnight & do the 'IN' thing (who gives a damn about the long run or the fact that there are at least 3-4 businesses of the same nature within a radius of 100-200 meters).

Esther Chuba: Dear Naga Fellows, we should encourage each other, not criticise when one Naga wanted do something unique for our Motherland .And The only reason why we Nagas follow the same business or competition among the friends and families even after finishing their respective degree or courses ,the Reason Behind this is our "INSURGENCY " problem. Our mentally is set up that if we invest on same business  that already people started then we expect that the insurgency group demand will be not much. But if that Naga want to invest in some unique new form of business and bring changes to our State then the demand from insurgency is more higher than the average entrepreneur. That’s why there is high rate of heart and mental problem in our society and people dying of stroke and sudden death etc "It is better to get one slap than getting mental torture. "But if we public raise voice against these anti-socials( Insurgency) not to rule over our lifestyle for our daily bread etc ,there will be a positive result and slowly we will see changes and more risk takers will make way for this generation to bring changes. Say NO WAR AND LET’S TRY TO LIVE WITH NO FEAR.
