Sharing responsibility of peace and human rights

Interfaith Prayer for Peace and Commemoration of Human Rights Day organized by Peace Channel was held on December 8 at conference hall, Holy Cross Hr Sec School Dimapur under the theme ‘Respect for Girl Child Rights.’ The gathering is also an annual gathering of the Peace Club members, associates and representatives of various organisations, peace activist and thinkers in and around Dimapur. 

Bokali Mughavi, Director, Transnational Humanitarian Advocacy Alliance (THAAL) addressing the event as the resource person said that according to the International Labour Organization report more than 100 million girl child are working as child labour.  She said that discrimination on girl child labour depend on different culture with various abuse like abortion of girl feotus, female genital mutilation, sexual exploitation, prostitute, child trafficking, child marriage, child labour, girl child mostly denied in education, inheritance which are physical, emotional, economical, social abuses. Human rights is universal rights and girl children are require more attention for protection and request every one should be ready for protection and speak of right. She also stated the example of Finland, Sweden that are known as peaceful nation because they give lot of empowerment to women like domestic helper or baby sister are well regarded and well paid.

Dr. Cho-o, Lecturer of Oriental Theological Seminary while delivering his Christmas message said that Christmas should not only be festival, an event and commercialization but it should be a time for worship, offer and season on peace. 

Meanwhile, during the first session, the programme was chair by Adahe Neli, invocation by Rev Kari Longchari, Fr. C.P Anto Present delivered the welcome speech while candle light prayer was led by Pastor Tohovi Achumi. King David School students and Vibeizonuo presented songs and vote of thanks by Wobenthung.  Leaders of different faith, social activist and students attended the programme.
