DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 8 (MExN): The New Market Business Owners Association (NMBOA) has advised the public to be wary of “anti social elements” that might be “lurking to carry out their illegal activities and victimize the public, especially shoppers.”
A press note from the NMBOA especially asked shoppers in New Market Dimapur to be cautious, keeping in mind that festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, Christmas, New Year etc are just round the corner.
It asked the public to exercise utmost caution and remain alert while visiting the market especially with their belongings like purses, wallets and handbags. The NMBOA also asked its members to remain vigilant to see that such incidents do not occur. “CCTV Cameras have been installed at various locations to thwart any anti-social activities and to assist law enforcing agencies in apprehending any such culprits,” it added.
The NMBOA meanwhile informed that it has received several complaints from shopkeepers about customers intentionally leaving behind empty handbags and later coming to claim that certain valuable articles and cash were inside the bag.
“Such activity causes undue harassment to the business community,” the NMBOA stated, and appealed to the public to desist from such modus operandi “thus branding themselves into no lesser than those anti-social elements.”
The association asked for support and cooperation from all sections of the public and various government agencies to see that the market serves the needs of the public.
