Short of vax, what’s the alternative? Asks NPF

KOHIMA, APRIL 26 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has questioned the Nagaland state government’s preparedness in tackling an emerging second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state. The question from the opposition comes subsequent to the state Health Department announcing that it is running short of COVID-19 vaccines and reserving the available stock for the second dose only.

The NPF Press Bureau, in a release, said that the shortage is in contrast to the Central government announcing that beginning May 1; every citizen above the age of 18 years will be eligible for immunisation.

“Therefore, the Naga People’s Front asked the Government, how far the State Government is preparing to tackle the second wave… And what alternative arrangement, the State Government is preparing for the people who have been denied of their dose due to the shortage of vaccine,” the release said.

Given the situation, it asked the government to be “serious enough” and make available the vaccine, while also making effort to sensitise the people on the importance of getting the vaccine.
