Shortage of doctors in District Hospital Longleng

Kohima, July 14 (MExN): The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) inspected the district hospital Longleng on July 7 last.

According to the official source stated by the general secretary PSC, four contractual doctors have been transferred from the District Hospital Longleng against which Dr. Thinuosatuo Mezhu, senior specialist and Dr. N. Mhonchan Kithan, senior medical officer have been posted. “However, it is sad to learn that both the newly posted doctors have only submitted their joining reports on the first week of June and they have not yet reported for their assigned duties,” a release received here said adding that the patients and the general public are loosing their patience. So please do not take advantage of the backward people,” a release said.

The release also stated that at present the district hospital is manned by medical superintendent, one junior specialist, one medical officer and a dentist who work tirelessly round the clock. The PSC also stated that there is no gynaecologist or surgeon posted at District Hospital Longleng, hence most of the patients that require surgical intervention gets referred outside. Stating that when compared with other district hospitals, Longleng District Hospital “is running with acute shortage of doctors,” the PSC urged upon the concern authority for the timely intervention.
