Says Centre a trading hub, not battlefield
Noklak, March 10 (MExN): Following the firing incident at International Trade Centre (ITC) Dan in Noklak on March 9, the Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) has condemned the incident and appealed to “insurgents and paramilitary force to shun violence” in the region.
Frequent firing incidents at ITC Dan have created a fear psychosis in the mind of the innocent public, the KTC stated in a press release on March 10.
Nagas are in the final stages for a peaceful solution but citizens of the region do not have peace of mind due to the constant firing between the ‘insurgents’ and security forces, the release stated.
The ITC at Dan has been established with a vision and aspirations that the place should become a commercial hub between the two countries (India and Myanmar) and not for battlefield, it asserted.
In this regard, the KTC strongly appealed to both the ‘insurgents’ and paramilitary forces to shun violence at ITC Dan.
It further appealed the State government to immediately set up a Border Magistrate post at Dan.
