Forest and Police signage have been kept at 40 strategic locations in Kohima City.
Kohima, December 17 (MExN): Kohima Forest Division and Kohima Police in collaboration have taken up an innovative awareness project. In the first phase of this project, both Forest and Police signage were kept at 40 strategic locations in Kohima City.
This campaign was initiated by Manoj Kumar A, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Kohima and Rajkumar M, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Kohima.
DFO Kohima Rajkumar in his speech stated that the content of the innovative signage is mainly to target the pedestrians. “The intention of using colourful signage which includes memes and various quotes is to grab the attention of the viewers with a hope that the sense and duty which humans owe to nature would be initiated. The main purpose of this project is to create environmental awareness among the people,” he stated.
During the process of making the signage, many people from different walks of life contributed their creative ideas in the social media which was an immense help in bringing out the completed signage which we see in the streets today, he said.
Further, the DFO Kohima stated that in the coming months, it will be displayed digitally in strategic locations to create awareness among the people residing in Kohima. In the future, many such innovative collaboration will be made to create awareness on different aspects, he informed.
SP Kohima Manoj Kumar cited that along with creating awareness about environmental issues, the project aims to streamline traffic in the city and instil traffic discipline among the masses by putting up signage.
The SP Kohima informed that views and suggestions of the community were sought for this project as part of community policing and further urged all to follow traffic rules and respect traffic signage as a responsible citizen.
Apart from other signage, Kohima Police has also identified accident prone areas in the city and appropriate signage will be put up in the identified locations to ensure better road safety.
Both the officers thanked Manom Wallin, DSP, Traffic, Kohima and Dr Sevono Seletsu, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Kohima and staff for team work in making the collaboration successful.
