Kohima, October 12 (MExN): Bands Since 90’s and Bound By Fire emerged as winners at the Road to Hornbill 2026 live music event held at The Switch Music Arena on October 11.

The event, organised by Naga Musicians Facebook group with the support of Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), brought together local bands to celebrate Nagaland’s growing music scene and showcase emerging musical talent. Besides the two winning bands, DCY and Velvet Siren were recognised as the Most Promising Bands.

The individual award winners were Best Drummer-DCY, Best Bassist-Velvet Siren, Best Guitarist-DCY and Best Vocalist-Bound By Fire, stated a press release.

The performances were evaluated by judges Mhaseve Tetseo, Ronnie Odyuo and Khriesazo Liezeietsu.

A special highlight of the evening was the announcement that an organisation had independently selected Velvet Siren for promotion and support, an encouraging opportunity for the band to further its musical journey and reach a wider audience.

The Road to Hornbill initiative aims to provide local bands with opportunities to perform, gain exposure and connect with wider audiences, with such platforms playing an important role in nurturing emerging talent and strengthening Nagaland’s music industry.
