Mokokchung | September 12 : After missing six editions of the Miss Mon beauty pageant, renowned Naga model Ethel Konyak along with Longwa Village Women Society (LVWS) is all set to organize the Miss Mon 2011 beauty pageant on September 24 at Local Ground Mon. The beauty pageant is being organized by the LVWS in association with “Metal Gear” on the theme “Celebrating Beauty and Life”.
Perhaps it is the involvement of the well-known and successful Naga Model Ethel Konyak, the Miss Mon 2011 is the much talked about topic in Mon town, and the citizens are looking forward to the beauty pageant which has not been held in the district for the past six years.
Speaking with some visiting reporters at the ELSHA Resort at the outskirt of the town, Ethel Konyak talked on why she chose to organize the Miss Mon 2011. (ELSHA Resort is owned a young entrepreneur Suzanne Konyak, the younger sister of Ethel Konyak)
Ethel maintained that beauty pageants is a nice platform for grooming the young girls as they grow up in life, as it improve their confidence level and also their personalities. She expressed great encouragement at the number of contestants coming forward to participate in the pageant; however only fifteen contestants will be selected after the auditions that will be held on September 21, 2011.
“Long ago we have to be dragged on to contest in the beauty pageants, but now times have changed. We have more than twenty girls coming forward to participate in the Miss Mon 2011 contest,” said the 27 year old Ethel Konyak with much satisfaction.
Giving a brief highlight of the tentative programme of Miss Mon 2011 to be held on September 24, Ethel Konyak said that the Naga Idol 5.10 Renbeni Odyuo will be performing on the great night; different designers from outside Nagaland will showcase their creations, and professional choreographer, Arenla Sangtam will choreograph the show. Besides, the selected contestants will be thoroughly groomed during whole process.
On being asked whether the Miss Mon 2011 will contest in the Miss Nagaland show, Ethel strongly responded in the affirmative. She expressed deep happiness that the Naga public will be seeing the beautiful Konyak girls in the Miss Nagaland beauty pageant after a long time.
While appreciating the KNSK (the apex Konyak women organization) for their support and encouragement, Ethel Konyak said that the Miss Mon 2011 would not be an end.
“It should go on and it should go on, and it should get better. I promise you it will get better,” said Ethel about the Miss Mon beauty pageant.
