Chümoukedima, March 17 (MExN): An awareness programme on the ‘Importance of being a member in the Institute of Engineers’ was organised by Department of Civil Engineering, St Joseph University (SJU) in association with the Institution of Engineers (India) Students’ Chapter, St Joseph University, Chümoukedima on March 12. The resource person was Er Imtiwati Jamir Secretary IEI Nagaland State Chapter.

In his presentation, Er Imtiwati Jamir provided a comprehensive overview of the importance of being a member in the Institution of Engineers. The key advantages of joining the IEI highlight the role it plays in promoting excellence, professional growth, and community engagement within the engineering fraternity. Membership in the IEI lends professional credibility and recognition to engineers. Being associated with a reputable institution reflects a commitment to ethical standards and high-quality engineering practices.

Er Jamir also mentioned that IEI provides a valuable network for engineers to connect with peers, mentors, and industry leaders. Networking events, conferences, and seminars organized by the IEI facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences among professionals. Access to workshops, training programs, and conferences helps members stay updated on the latest advancements in their respective fields. Members may also gain access to a wealth of technical publications, journals, and research papers. The IEI also supports members in advancing their careers through skill development, mentorship programs and assists members in exploring new opportunities, and advocates for the interests of engineers at national and international levels.

In conclusion, Er Jamir also mentioned that becoming a member of the Institution of Engineers is a strategic investment in one's professional journey. The awareness programme was chaired by Pika G Awomi, invocation by Fr L Anish (PRO) with welcome address by Imliangla Lemtur, special number by Kuyichu Sharo, vote of thanks by Ketholeno and benediction by Fr Arun Valan. The webinar was attended by about 100 students, faculties, and staff of the Civil Engineering Department, SJU, Nagaland.
