SJU hosts TALK on ‘Union Budget 2021’

Dimapur, March 16 (MExN): St Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur Department of Economics organized a TALK on ‘Union Budget 2021’ with Dr Giribabu M, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics Nagaland University, Lumami as guest speaker on March 16.

Highlighting the key points on budget 2021-22, Dr Giribabu observed that due to COVID-19 pandemic, more budgets have been allotted towards the health sector. He also informed that the “Union Budget and Railway Budget will merge in the near future.”

Dr J Suresh Kumar, Assistant Professor, SJU spoke on a balanced budget. He emphasized why and how to keep a budget even in our personal life. He explained in detail how the Government of India makes money and where they spent it. Nchumbeni Ovung Research Scholar advocated on gender budgeting. She talked about different schemes and benefits for women such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mahila Shakti Kyndra, 181 helpline, One Stop Centre. 

The programme was chaired by Vino Achumi MA 4th Semester, invoked by Sister Thaines, Dy Registrar, welcome address by Dr Debojit Konwar HoD department of economics, exhortation from Dr Robert Edwin Chester Registrar and ended with a vote of thanks by Chingshie T Konyak GS Economics Association. 

There was a good interaction between the resource persons and the students and the faculty members.
