Sümi Hoho hosts Ahuna celebration feast in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, November 14 (MExN): Sümi Hoho, apex body of Sümi community organised Ahuna celebration feast at Sümi Hoho official building in Old town, Zunheboto on November 13. 

Ahuna is a post harvest festival which is celebrated by the Sümi community, in the month of November every year. No other activities such as cultural presentations or indigenous games etc were displayed to avoid large crowd, Sümi Hoho General Secretary, I Nikheto Jimomi stated in a press release. 

The function was attended by all tribal Hoho representatives, along with Peter Lichimo, Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Uniel Kichu, Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto, Col Animesh, Commandant 32AR along with his officers, Sümi Kukami Hoho, Sümi Totimi Hoho, SKK and Sümi Officers Union Zunheboto and other Sümi Leaders.

Earlier, Hekhushe Shikhu, President, Sümi Hoho chaired the function and Kashito Yepthomi spoke on the significance of Ahuna. Invocation was pronounced by Rev Dr Yevito Sumi, while vote of thanks and benediction was pronounced by Vihoshe Mürü, Vice President, Sümi Hoho. The function concluded with grand Ahuna feast, followed by a short meeting between 14 tribal Hohos.
