Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): An organization from Kohima, Angami Youth Organization (AYO), is displeased at the “undignified manner” the annual conference of police chiefs of the country at New Delhi treated the Director General of Police of Nagaland.
“The omission of the Nagaland DGP from the mandatory photo session with the President of India followed by dinner at Rashtrapati Bhavan, when his counterparts from other states were invited, is indeed an insult not only to the DGP but also to the people of Nagaland,” the AYO said in a note received here today. The photography session and dinner may be ceremonial but the manner in which the Nagaland DGP was treated cannot be simply brushed aside as a trivial issue, the AYO said. “The common man has always felt that Delhi has been giving the north-east in general and Nagaland in particular a step-motherly treatment. The humiliation meted out to the Nagaland DGP is another indication of the manner in which Delhi looks upon Nagaland and should be condemned by all,” the organization said.
The AYO added that the state government should treat the matter with seriousness and “seek explanation as to why this happened from the central government.”
