Social Concerns Committee now in Nagaland

Zapami (Phek), August 28 (MExN): The office of the Social Concerns Committee (SCC) to monitor the successful implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes as well as the state government policies and programmes was inaugurated today here by CCDU PHED executive director Er. Kevisekho Kruse.

Zapami village was recipient of the National Gram Purushkar (NGP) award on sanitation in March this year. This village lies around 80 Kms away from the state capital. The formation of SCC office housing Village Electricity Management Board, Village Anganwadi Board, Village Health Committee, Water and Sanitation Committee, is not only the first of kind in Phek district but perhaps in Nagaland too.

Speaking on the occasion, Er. Kruse challenged the Zapami villagers to not only sustain the status of being the proud winner of the award but to improve further.

Quoting “Nothing great in the world has been accomplished without passion”-Georg Wilhelm, he said the villagers of Zapami has ardent desire to work for the welfare and betterment of community through the tool of unity, adding that such quality was a plus point as witness through the successful implementation of various government policies and programme in the village. “It is a big achievement,” he said adding prosperity will be always there as long as unity prevails.

Referring to ambitions plan of the Government of India to make the whole villages of the country to be fully sanitized by 2012, he stressed on the need for community involvement and urged the villagers to sustain the NGP award and also improve the same. He also stated that the inflow of tourists to the state will not fetch positive result unless the proper sanitation is ensured.He said that sanitation help improve the living standard and also improve human dignity.

Reminding the people about communitization initiations, he encouraged the villagers to take up responsibility for paradigm shift so as to help the government in developmental programs in respect of health, water, power and education.

PHED Phek executive engineer Venuzo Nienu declared the Zapami Village Council decision for holding March 16 as Village Sanitation Day.

Mikha Kenye said the SCC has been formed to monitor the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) as well as the communitized programs of projects of state government that there is effective implementation of the projects without any prejudice.

He categorically said that the Committee is not an investigation agency nor a political party but just to ensure successful implementation of the government policies and programme.
