Social work under Kohima District SVEEP campaign held

Kohima, March 30 (MExN): The Kohima District Administration in collaboration with the Kohima Municipal Council KMC has organised a social work on March 30. 

The social work was conducted under the Kohima District SVEEP campaign on 'No to Plastics, Yes to Clean Elections' and in commemoration with the 75th Anniversary of Kohima Battle (World War II).

Deputy Commissioner & DEO Kohima, Anoop Khinchi IAS briefing the participants said that the social work has been organised to create awareness on the plastics waste management which is causing a problem to the environment for our future generations. He said that it was also organised to motivate the voters to ethically vote for their rights to have clean election and added that “if we do not choose our representative properly then we also have problem throughout our life.” He also said that under the programme District theme song titled ‘Be the One’ was launched, where it conveys the message to each individual to be the one who will not be sold and vote consciously and judiciously. He therefore urged the younger generations to vote right in order to have their future bright and also to keep Kohima free of plastic. DC also administered the Pledge on 'Clean Election' to the participants.

The Green Team Kohima, a group of light minded youth also participated in the social work with the KMC personnel clearing the plastics waste around the World War II tank area and Mohonkola side. The team has been contributing their services in advocating the public on plastic waste management since last October 2018. 

Under the Kohima District SVEEP campaign, a series of awareness programme on 'No to Plastic, Yes to Clean Elections' has been organised through the medium of music, distribution of posters, today's social work with more programmes coming up before the poll day.
