SP Phek urges cyber crime victims to come forward, file cases

Kohima, November 25 (MExN): On account of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based violence, the District Administration alongwith SANKALP- DHEW in collaboration with Sakhi One Stop Centre today observed International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women at Phek Headquarter.

Speaking on the occasion as the guest speaker, Pritpal Kaur, SP Phek, stressed on gender equality in terms of jobs and opportunity. More 2.5 lakh cases registered in NCR Portal related to digital violence against women alone so far, she said. She said that Cyber crime and fraud has gone beyond imagination.

She informed anyone in distress to dial cyber crime helpline 1930 within 24 hours and file case digitally for quick assistance. Kaur requested the victims to come forward and file the case so that police can take necessary actions according to the law.

Rhosietho Nguori, Deputy Commissioner Phek said that digital violence is becoming more challenging than the physical violence especially in this age of Artificial Intelligence.

It is not only the responsibilities of Police or Administration alone but all the stake holders need to be involved in order to stop digital violence, he said. Nguori advised the parents to monitor those internet content the child watches.

The programme was chaired by Vileno K Thisa District Mission Coordinator, DHEW Phek while vote of thanks was proposed by Menu-u Tsuhah, CA Sakhi-One Stop Centre.
